Sympathy Versus Empathy

I look this up every 6 months or so…

I’ve tried most of my adult life to understand the concept of “allegory”. I just don’t get it. I struggle now with the concept of “meta.” I ask people constantly if something I just said was meta. Negative. Meta is the new Allegory which was the new Sympathy/Empathy which was the new Simile/Metaphor.  I went to visit a friend who had a recent surgical procedure. Thankfully, all is well. Unfortunately for me, I’m recovering a bit slower than said patient as I fell fast asleep during the visit as evidenced below.  I’m still confused if I was overwhelmed with sympathy or empathy, whether that bear-like blanket was an allegory or if the whole thing was tinged with meta-ness in a metaphorical sense. IMG_1451Fast asleep during a post-op visit.

Finally putting those thoughts down that had people scrunching their faces or quietly sneaking away but nonetheless made me laugh. So scrunch, sneak, laugh, enjoy.
